How You Can Help

The Black Cultural Society of Nova Scotia was incorporated in May 1977, as a non-profit organization and the parent organization of the Black Cultural Centre for Nova Scotia. The registered name is The Society for the Protection and Preservation of Black Culture in Nova Scotia. The Mandate of the Society is to Protect, Preserve and Promote Black Culture.

Join the Society

Membership in the Black Cultural Society is open to all. Membership privileges include a membership card, quarterly newsletter (“The Preserver”), notices of upcoming events and activities, voting at the Annual General Meeting of the Black Cultural Society, and free admission to the Black Cultural Centre and discounts to events.

You can become a member in your choice of two easy ways. You can use our online payment feature of simply download the form and send us your payment via mail.

Membership is renewed annually.
  1. Individual $ 25.00 per year 
  2. Student or Senior $ 15.00 per year 
  3. Family $ 50.00 per year 
  4. Group $ 50.00 per year 
  5. Corporate / Business $ 100.00 per year 

Donate

Donors to the Black Cultural Society / Centre for Nova Scotia receive an official tax receipt and your name will be published in our newsletter. Your donation will help us in our ongoing feat to Protect, Preserve and Promote Black Culture and Heritage in Nova Scotia. Many of our programs and services would not be possible without the generous support of donations. The organization is a registered Canadian charity and our legal charitable name is: The Society for the Protection and  Preservation of Black Culture in Nova Scotia (known as the Black Cultural Society/Centre).

Your donation is especially meaningful at this time as we provide program supports and services to create a greater understanding of diversity and the culture we all share.

You can donate securely on-line by clicking the “Donate” button below or by sending your donation to our address below. Tax receipts will be issued for all Canadian donations over $10.00. US and International Donations will be received in Canadian dollars.

The Society for the Protection and Preservation of Black Culture in Nova Scotia (better known as the Black Cultural Society of Nova Scotia) was incorporated as a charitable organization as an act of provincial legislation in 1977. The Society has provincial Board of Directors, made up of representatives from various Black communities throughout Nova Scotia. The Centre is funded in part by the Government of Nova Scotia.
